Dr. Mayur V. Patel was born in the suburbs of Chicago and was raised in the small southern town of Andalusia, Alabama. Growing up, Patel was very keen on helping out at his parents motel with maintenance and volunteer in the community as much as he could.
His love and passion for helping people in need awoke his interest for pursuing a career which he could better apply his skills and to meet people from different backgrounds and cultures. Patel soon attended the University of Alabama where he received his undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sports Science. Afterwards, he attended the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences where he secured his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
He received extensive training in advanced orthopedic manual therapy treatment and evaluation, relating to the spine and extremities. At St. Augustine, he had the opportunity to learn from one of the leading nationally recognized Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists, where he found his drive and motivation to succeed in his career field. Patel worked in Chicago, Colorado, Arizona, Alaska, before working in the beautiful state of Georgia. In these diverse locations, he gained experience in orthopedic manual physical therapy relating to high school/collegiate level athletes, as well as active individuals looking to get back to healthy and pain free lifestyles.
For Patel’s career, future interests include pursuing further continuation in learning the latest and most up to date Evidenced Based Research in regards to dry needling, manual therapy, and strength and conditioning. Outside of work, Patel wishes to continue his travels and experience different cultures and traditions this world has to offer. During his free time, he loves to spend time with his Fiance, be outside playing tennis, golf, hiking, camping, enjoys photography, playing with his dog, Arya, and picking up any new hobbies. Patel is very excited to experience everything that Georgia has to offer.
His hope for his new role is to help patients meet health goals and lead fulfilling lives that include participating in sports and activities that bring them joy, but to educate them about their body and biomechanics to further educate them on injury prevention to avoid any unnecessary surgeries down the road. Not only does Patel wish to help people and educate them, but hopes to build an empathetic and lasting relationship with them which will help him better treat his patients in the future.
